MEETING MINUTES
JANUARY 8, 2002

6:30 P.M. Selectman O’Connor opened the meeting.

Jean Collins met with the Board to discuss the process of upgrading a seasonal road.

Selectman Mical updated the Board about the January 7, 2002 Budget Committee meeting. The Budget Committee has gone through ¾ of the budget. Selectman Mical informed the Board that the Town Offices Salaries line was cut by $3700.00. Selectman O’Connor commented that at 2001 Town Meeting it was voted that the salaries are the Selectmen’s responsibility not the Budget Committee’s, and only the bottom line can be changed. Selectman Mical also informed that the Police Departments budget was cut from $277,000.00 to $250,000.00, and Parks and Recreation was cut from $24,000.00 to $15,000.00. The Board discussed the cuts. The Budget Committee is having a meeting on January 21, 2002 to offer the opportunity to the Departments that have been cut to meet with the Budget Committee to state their arguments for reinstating their money.

The Board discussed the increases in the County and School budgets.

The Board discussed the Town Report.

The Board discussed the vacancy available on the Planning Board.

Selectman Mical informed the Board that the survey that was done on the Odd Fellows Building is still not complete. The Odd Fellows/Martin Building Committee will address the Board when the information is available.

The Board discussed the cuts that were made to the Capital Improvements from the Budget Committee, and the upcoming Warrant Articles.

Selectman O’Connor requested a list of fee’s that are collected from all the Departments.

Thomas Brennan School Superintendent of Kearsarge Regional School District will be in to speak to the Board about the school budget on January 15, 2002.

The Board would like to meet with Ralph Littlefield (Community Action Program) at the Senior Center to give an update and have a question and answer time.

Selectman Mical informed the Board about a representative from James W. Sewall Co. who came in to speak about aerial photographs of the Town.

Judith Rogers (Town Clerk) met with the Board to discuss Transfer Station decals. Judy and the Board discussed fees. Temporary passes for residents that rent was discussed, and concluded to leave the present procedure in place. Effective February 1, 2002, red Transfer Station stickers will be issued. The green stickers will be valid until January 31, 2002. Selectman O’Connor will do a write up for the Warner Paper regarding the new stickers. Yearly out-of-Town fees will be billed once a year, upon receipt of the payment, and only half of the sicker will be issued.

Judith informed the Board about Grant money available for Parks and Recreation.

Selectman Mical distributed the sub-committee schedule for the County Budget.

Selectman Mical made a motion to adjourn. All were in favor. The motion passed.
