Meeting Minutes
February 8, 2005

Meeting opened at 6:00 p.m.

In attendance: Selectman Wayne Eigabroadt – Chairman and Selectman Peter St. James

Recorder of the minutes is Mary Whalen.

Mr. & Mrs. Tarleton met with the Selectmen to discuss using the Town Hall to hold a dance recital.  Mrs. Tarleton teaches an after school dance program in Warner, Bradford , Sutton and New London .  Mrs. Tarleton asked if lights and sound equipment could also be provided.  Dress rehearsal is scheduled for June 14 and June 17 & 18, 2005 is scheduled for the recital.  Tickets will be sold for $6.00 each.  The Selectmen agreed to rent the Town Hall for half of the resident rate ($100.00 per day for the main hall) resulting in $50.00 per day.  The Tarleton’s also asked if there is a room available for lease in any town building to begin a structured dance class commencing in September.  The Selectmen agreed to look at the availability of a room in the Old Grade School and will meet with Mrs. Tarleton on March 1, 2005 .

Selectman St. James made the motion to approve meeting minutes dated February 1, 2005 as written.  Chairman Eigabroadt seconded the motion.  The motion passed.

The Selectmen reviewed a “Home Occupation” application submitted by Tammy Podgis for massage therapy.  The application was first forwarded to the Planning Board and it was determined that a Site-Plan was not necessary.   To further process the application abutters need to be notified.  Ms. Podgis will be notified, the application will remain on hold until the notification of abutters is completed.

Chairman Eigabroadt made the motion to appoint Martha Mical to the Policy Committee.  Selectman St. James seconded the motion.  The motion passed.

Selectman St. James made the motion to accept the submitted proposal from Ayer Electric for labor and material to connect the horizontal baler at the Transfer Station.  Chairman Eigabroadt seconded the motion.  The motion passed.

The Selectmen approved a Town Hall rental for a birthday party and a wedding.  All dates were reserved.

The Selectmen approved the purchase of tire for the excavator.

The Selectmen began discussion regarding the provision of health insurance for retirees.  By law the town is not obligated to provide insurance.  The Selectmen decided to further research what other towns provide.  Martha Mical commented for the record, to start paying retirees health benefits is committing the town to an extreme amount of money in the future.  When more data is compiled the Selectmen will continue discussions.
