SELECTMEN’S MEETING

July 25, 2000

Minutes

The meeting was opened at 6:30 PM by Selectman Nogues. Present were Selectman Nogues and Selectman Brayshaw, Selectman O’Connor was unable to attend.

Mr. and Mrs. Tom Wallace came in to discuss the assessment of their property on Main St. Selectman Nogues will speak with Dick White who did the listing and measuring in 1994 and will get back to the Wallaces after next Tues.

Selectman Nogues asked Selectman Brayshaw if the letter to Mr. Martin in regards to un-registered vehicles was complete. Selectman Brayshaw is completing the final draft, which will be ready for the next scheduled meeting on August 8, 2000.

There is no news on the approval for the circus but posters have been seen in the area advertising it.

The Selectmen discussed the burying of a propane storage tank at the new police facility. It was requested to bury the tank for aesthetics reasons. Selectman Nogues will find out if there are any extra costs involved and what happens when we change propane dealers. The request was tabled to get more information.

Selectman Nogues made the motion to approve the Light-Tech contract for the lighting part only, Selectman Brayshaw seconded and the motion carried.

Selectman Nogues stated that he had talked to Merrimack CAP from the county Community Action Program about them helping to pay for the installation of the gas for the new stove. They do not have any money at this time.

Selectman Brayshaw made the motion to authorize Kearsarge Heating (H.R. Clough) to proceed with the work of Option 2, 3 and the add-ons for the furnace at the CAP building. Selectman Nogues seconded and the motion carried.

The Selectmen set the next Department Head meeting for September 7, 2000 at 9AM. They would like the questionnaire given back to the Selectmen’s Office by mid-August.

Selectman Brayshaw made a motion to hire a part-time helper for the transfer station

on Saturdays between July 22 and the last Saturday in Oct. at a rate of $8.82per hour. Selectman Nogues seconded and the motion carried.

The Board signed 1 building permit, 1 heavy hauling permit, and the State Forest Land reimbursement form.

The Selectmen discussed with Barbara Proper, Town Treasurer more options for Tax Anticipation Notes.

Martha Mical, Assessing Clerk, informed the Selectmen of a boundary dispute over in the Hoyt District. Land owned by Mrs. McWilliams and land owned by Mr. Pychos both have legal surveys and both claim to own the same 71 acres. He requested that he continue to be taxed for it.

Ed Mical asked the Board to approve the following expenditures: $96.50 for a new emergency light for Town Hall, $72.00 for batteries for emergency lights, $450.00 for the supplies to replace the bathroom floor in children’s center. Replacement windows for the CAP Building were discussed, it was decided that the windows in the senior center, the children’s center, the two main floor bathrooms, and Barbara Chellis’s office and one door would be replaced. Selectman Nogues asked what the warranty was on the windows and what the payment schedule is. Selectman Nogues made the motion to approve the items, Selectman Brayshaw seconded the motion and the motion carried.

The question was asked as to why the ditches on Old Pumpkin Hill Rd are so deep.

Selectman Nogues will find out the answer.

The Boston Post Cane was presented to Katherine Brown at a Special meeting of the Warner Historical Society. It was also voted that the Historical Society would accept the Upton House as a gift from the Chandler Family.

The motion was made to go out of public session and into non - public session under RSA 91-A:3,III Compensation.

The meeting was adjourned at 10PM.
