BOARD OF SELECTMEN MEETING

MINUTES

AUGUST 15, 2000

Selectman Brayshaw opened the meeting at 6:00 P.M. Present were Selectman Brayshaw and Selectman O’Connor. Chairman Nogues was on vacation.

Chief Chandler and Dick White updated the Board on the new Police Facility. The Board discussed soil preparation before grass seed is applied. The Board then discussed fire and burglar alarm systems. After a lengthy discussion, the Board decided on a sprinkler system that will cover both attic and main floors of the building, Selectman O’Connor made the motion to allocate $24,650.00 for the alarm and sprinkler systems, and stated that the alarm system will have a zoned alarm box. Selectman Brayshaw seconded the motion, the motion carried.

The Board reviewed a Home Occupation application for an Antique Shop, and directed the applicants to check with their neighbors, and then return to the Board.

The Board signed a Home Occupation application for Fine Carpentry, then passed it to the Planning Board.

Selectman Brayshaw made the motion to accept the Minutes from the Board of Selectmen’s meeting on August 8, 2000, with changes, Selectman O’Connor seconded the motion, the motion carried.

Selectman O’Connor made the motion for the propane tank at the new Police Facility to be above the ground. Selectman Brayshaw seconded the motion, the motion carried.

The Board discussed compensation for Charlie Brown’s work on the dog kennel at the new Police Facility. Selectman Brayshaw made the motion to pay Mr. Brown for his labor. Selectman O’Connor seconded the motion, the motion carried.

Selectman O’Connor will formulate a plan for checking stickers and increasing recycle awareness at the Transfer Station. Selectman O’Connor made the motion to hire someone to enforce sticker use, Selectman Brayshaw seconded the motion, the motion carried.

A employee of the Town approached the Board and asked to use the Town loader to demolish a barn. The Board denied the request, Town policy does not allow

personal use of Town equipment. Selectman Brayshaw will draft a letter to the property owners stating that the building is unsafe and needs to be removed.

Wendy Pinkham presented a new vision plan option to the Board, it is presently under consideration.

The Board accepted Jennifer Lavoie’s resignation from Parks and Recreation. Selectman O’Connor motioned to appoint Paul Digeronimo, Selectman Brayshaw seconded the motion.

The Board discussed a residents questions regarding putting a mobile home on a house lot, and directed the resident to the Zoning Board.

Wendy Pinkham presented a computer accounting program that Chuck Goss submitted to her. After discussion the Board decided not to pursue the program due to its cost.

The Board did not approve a request from an out-of-town resident for the rental of the Town Hall due to the date of September 2, on Labor Day weekend. Police would not be available for special detail on that date.

Selectman Brayshaw made the motion to adjourn the meeting at 9:30 P.M. Selectman O’Connor seconded the motion, the motion carried.
