BOARD OF SELECTMEN MEETING

MINUTES

AUGUST 29, 2000

Selectmen present were Chairman Nogues, and Selectman Brayshaw, Chairman Nogues opened the meeting at 6:00 P.M., addressing the first appointment with Public Works Director Allan Brown, who updated the Board on the progress of construction on the sand and salt shed, estimated date of completion is October 1, 2000. Upcoming expenses were also discussed.

Radioactive material was detected at the Transfer Station. Public Works Director Allan Brown is working with the State to identify the object and properly dispose of the material. On Thursday August 31, 2000, Selectman Brayshaw, Allan Brown and a waste material expert from the State will meet to identify the waste. Allan Brown and Selectman Brayshaw will keep the Board updated on the material, and recommended disposal.

Chief Chandler approached the Board to inform them that one of the cruisers needs immediate replacement due to engine failure. The Board is looking into funding for this vehicle replacement.

Dick Cutting and Steve Lord from the Chandler Reservation approached the Board with an intent to cut. Approximately 25 acres require clean-up from a previous ice storm. The Board signed the Intent to cut.

A number of residents approached the Board about a neighbor who has numerous unregistered vehicles and running a home business and erecting a sign without applying for the proper permits. A letter has been sent to the resident in regards to the unregistered vehicles. The Board will also draft a letter and explain that permits are required for a home business. Selectman Brayshaw will look into this matter, and keep the Board informed.

Compensation has been paid to Mr. Brown for the construction of a dog kennel. Selectman Brayshaw made the motion to increase the compensation an additional $250.00, Chairman Nogues seconded the motion, the motion carried.

Selectman Brayshaw made the motion to accept the minutes from 08/15/2000 Board meeting with changes. Chairman Nogues seconded the motion.

Board of Selectmen meetings will resume to weekly meetings starting 09/05/2000. The 09/12/2000 is canceled due to the election.

The questionnaire that was completed by Martha Mical about tax year 2000 was signed by the Board.

Four building permits, and three intent to cut was signed by the Board.

Ed Mical updated the Board on the CAP Building renovations. Clough Heating has started replacing the furnace. New window replacement is scheduled for September 11, 2000.

Chairman Nogues will represent the Board at the 2000 Legislative Policy Conference on September 15, 2000.

Selectman Brayshaw made the motion to adjourn the Board meeting at 8:30 P.M., Chairman Nogues seconded the motion, the motion carried.
