Specifically discussed was the existing drainage that begins at Simonds School .  The Odd Fellows Building Committee had discussed picking up the drainage at Simonds School and creating a new drainage system between the video store out across Main Street and then down to the river.  What needs to be known is the schools participation in such a project.  Mr. Brennan asked if the school is being asked to participate because of an on going problem or is it because of the proposed renovation of the Odd Fellows Building .  The answer was “yes” to both.  Allan explained that the current drainage system is already over burdened.  Chairman Hartman explained that the way the school is aligned the water comes down the back side of the school into catch basins that are not adequate.  If the Town continues to work with the OFBC realigning parking areas, the school needs to be involved in regards to the drainage.  Allan recommends a study on exactly where the water is draining from Simonds School ; there is one area that is unknown.  Mr. Brennan explained he is currently working with a company called Woodward & Curran that will be presenting a 5 year water management proposal; the Facilities Committee is meeting with them on August 13th.  Mr. Brennan feels that the drainage at the Simonds School could be pieced into the proposal.  Mr. Brennan will make sure that Woodward & Curran speaks with Allan.

Allan explained that any future alterations will result in flooding if the current system is not alleviated.  Mr. Brennan explained that the Woodward & Curran proposal (planning phase) is targeted for 2008/2009.  The Selectmen will plan to attend the August 13 meeting.

Future enrollment within the schools was discussed.

Meeting adjourned at 9:45 a.m.
