Town Profile

Warner, situated in the Dartmouth-Lake Sunapee Region of New Hampshire and in the western part of Merrimack County, is eighteen miles northwest of Concord via Interstate 89 or NH Route 103. The village is pleasant and picturesque with neatness evident in all the surroundings.

Mount Kearsarge, at 2937 feet above sea level, is the highest point in Merrimack County and the third tallest peak south of the White Mountains. The 360 degree panorama from the summit includes the White Mountains, Green Mountains, New Hampshire and Maine coasts and the tallest buildings in Boston. There are 6 ponds within the town's 31,851 acres.

Warner is one of the seven towns that comprise the Kearsarge Regional School District. Kearsarge Regional High School was designated one of the exemplary schools in the nation by the United States Department of Education under its National Secondary Schools Recognition Program. It holds accreditation by both the State of New Hampshire and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. Simonds Elementary School received the Excellence in Education award in 2008 for the New Hampshire Elementary School of the Year.

In October, on Columbus Day / Indigenous Peoples' Day weekend, the annual Fall Foliage Festival is held, drawing thousands of people from all over New England and the USA.

Town Bulletin Board

  • Dog Ordinance in our Parks: Dog Leash/Clean Up Requirements - A friendly reminder to all dog owners. The Town has an ordinance that has established that all dogs be leashed while inside Town recreation areas, and leashed or under voice command in Town common areas and that the handler be responsible for removing defecation as it occurs in all areas. The mandatory dog leash areas are as follows: Bagley Field, Riverside Park, Simonds School and the Old Grade School playground. The mandatory dog leash or under voice command areas are as follows: Town Hall lawn, Masonic lawn, Monument and all sidewalks. Please respect the ordinance to minimize clean-up when preparing the fields at a later date.
  • Housing Assistance: Renter and homeowner assistance programs are available at https://homehelpnh.org/. Both programs are limited by available resources depending on utilization by renters and owners. People can also call 2-1-1, particularly if they don't have Internet access. For homeowners, the program provides up to $20,000 per household for delinquencies related to mortgages, utilities, property taxes, and other housing related costs. The property must be owner-occupied and must be the owner's primary residence.
  • Preservation of Historic Barns is encouraged by granting property tax relief. More details here.

Public Services

  • The Mid-State Regional Coordinating Council, as part of the Coordinated Transit and Human Services Transportation Plan update, is seeking the public’s input regarding access to transportation across the region. There is an on-line survey here.
  • State Renewable Energy Rebates: The State of NH provides a rebate payment of 40% of the system and installation cost, up to a maximum of $10,000, for NH residents who invest in high-efficiency (80% or greater), bulk-fuel fed, wood-pellet central heating boilers and furnaces serving designed intent and installer-certified on or after July 9, 2016.   • Funds Available for Heating Assistance - Community Action Program, Belknap-Merrimack Counties, Inc wants to remind homeowners and renters in Belknap and Merrimack Counties that Fuel Assistance funds are still available and the agency Area Center offices are open Monday through Friday to take applications. More info here
  • Warner Connects Community Services / Food Pantry: The Food Pantry is located at the Warner Community Center, 49 W Main St, Warner NH. For assitance or more information please contact Apryl Blood at 603-456-2053 / WarnerPantry@gmail.com. Donated items may be dropped off at the Food Pantry or in the donation box located in the north entrance of Market Basket.

  • The Community Wood Bank purpose is to provide supplemental firewood to people who are in an emergency or in a situation of need. Please see this document for more information.
